We're a boutique coffee roastery, proudly based in Toronto, ON.

JAVA ROASTERS lives in a building that once buzzed with imagination. Long before coffee aromas filled the air, this space was home to a toy factory - a place where ideas were shaped, assembled, tested, and brought to life. That spirit of play, curiosity, and making is where our story begins.

Our Coffee Playground is a nod to that history. Just like toys once invited creativity, exploration, and joy, we see Specialty Coffee the same way: a craft we take seriously, while leaving room to experiment, explore, and let each coffee find its own expression. Origin, processing, roast profiles, and brewing methods become our building blocks - each cup an invitation to explore flavour with curiosity and intention.

When we were searching for a home for our roastery, we weren’t just looking for four walls and machines. We were thinking about energy, heritage, and how our artwork, coffee philosophy, and hands-on approach could belong somewhere meaningful. This space felt right instantly. A place built for making things, for craftsmanship, for detail - values that sit at the core of Specialty Coffee and felt deeply aligned with how we source, roast, and present our coffees.

Today, we roast coffee where toys were once made. Different craft, same mindset: thoughtful, curious, and driven by the joy of creating something worth sharing - one carefully roasted batch, one playful cup at a time.

 

meet KAYLA (she/her) | Co-Founder, Head Roaster & Sensory Specialist:

A two-time Cup Taster Champion, Kayla brings years of hands-on experience in nearly every corner of the coffee industry. She’s done it all, from sales and brand management to coffee and sensory training, quality control, and now roasting.

At our roastery, Kayla leads green coffee buying and applies her sensory expertise to craft precise roast profiles that bring out the best in every bean. With her creative side, she also drives the design of our coffee labels and branding, making sure what’s inside the bag tastes just as amazing as it looks on the outside.

meet LEAH (she/her) | Co-Founder, Head of Operations:

With years of experience in management, brand creation, and PR, Leah brings both structure and vision to the roastery. She oversees company operations, customer service, and both online and wholesale orders. In short, Leah is the steady hand making sure everything runs smoothly and the company stays on the right path.
