Kayla is the Head Roaster & Sensory Specialist at JAVA ROASTERS, with over 15 years of experience in the specialty coffee industry and two Cup Tasters Championship titles.
A big part of her work is dedicated to sensory - an area of coffee she remains endlessly curious about. Her approach combines sensory science with the exploration of flavour, aroma and perception, with a strong focus on sensory analysis, calibration and cup quality.
Over the years, Kayla has also developed her own sensory methodology for teaching and training, helping people understand not only what they taste, but how they perceive and interpret what’s in the cup.
